Terrell Hills

The city of Terrell Hills, Texas, is located five miles northeast of downtown San Antonio. Its population is approximately 5,045 people. The community is located in Bexar County. Despite its small size, the town boasts several notable historical attractions and is an ideal place for a family vacation. Several businesses, restaurants, and other attractions are located in the area.


Terrell Hills is an upscale, largely suburban community located in Bexar County, about five miles northeast of downtown San Antonio. It was named for a former mayor of San Antonio, Dr. Frederick Terrell, who helped promote the area as a residential addition. In 1930, the community reported just one business and a population of 1,236. In 1939, the community was incorporated as a municipality. However, San Antonio annexed the city without holding an election, and the town filed a lawsuit to stop the process. This lawsuit was later voided, and the city adopted a home rule charter.


The climate in Terrell Hills is mild, with temperatures ranging from 53 degrees to 85 degrees Fahrenheit. The coolest months of the year are February and December, while summers range from 77 degrees in May to 85 degrees in August. Autumn temperatures begin in the mid-sixties and decrease slowly to a low of 63 degrees in November. The city's air quality is rated at 45, which is below the state and national average.
